Letter From Pastor Jay
I am so excited about what God has been doing in and through the people of Maple City Chapel in 2023. We baptized 29 new believers this year and heard powerful stories of life transformation through the power of Jesus. You continue to invite your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers and go out of your way to warmly welcome new faces on Sunday morning. Our average attendance was 928 in 2023, which was up by 21% from 2022. We had more than 100 people show up each week on Sunday mornings to volunteer in some capacity. We couldn’t do what we do without you all jumping in to make MCCh a welcoming place for people to hear the good news of Jesus!
I’ve talked with our staff a lot this past year about the importance of seeing ourselves as digital missionaries. The world is hurting, and we have the opportunity to reach people online who would never step foot inside a church. As we’ve kept that mission in mind, we’ve seen our efforts paying off! Our Facebook visits increased by 385% and our Instagram reach increased by 282% from 2022. A short video of a baptism testimony had over 190,000 views. We want to continue to be as creative as we can in sharing the good news of Jesus with everyone everywhere!
One of my yearly traditions is to spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal a specific word or phrase for the upcoming year for my own personal walk and for our church as a whole. I felt that the word God gave me for this year is “hunger.” Jesus tells us in Luke 6:21, “Blessed are you who hunger, for you will be satisfied.” I’d love for you to spend time thinking and praying about this word and what it might mean for you and for our church family in 2024.
I got an email recently from someone who visited with his wife for the first time. He said that he expected on the way home to be talking to his wife about the worship (which they really enjoyed) or the message (which really spoke to them), but instead, they found themselves talking about how much they experienced the presence of Jesus in a very real and personal way. While it is important and even essential for us to show up and do our part, I have never been more hungry for God to show up and do what only God can do. As we gather in 2024, let’s come with excitement and anticipation, expecting that God will faithfully show up and do what only God can do. I can’t wait to see what all God will do!

Ministries at Work
Our ministries are growing and busting at the seams. Our kids and students ministries especially have reached peak numbers.
Our kids' department is bursting at the seams! In 2023, we averaged 100 kids per service, and we welcome new babies into our nursery every month. We LOVE witnessing this generation grow and emulate Christ, especially as we observe volunteers from older generations serving them with the gentleness of Christ.
We believe this is not merely babysitting - it's spiritual development. At Maple City Chapel, we focus on nurturing the next generation to love Jesus and impact the world for the Kingdom. We are fully committed at Maple City Kids. Our Next Gen ministry partners with families throughout their entire discipleship journey, and we have a vast volunteer community dedicated to investing in your kids throughout their lifetime.
Our students truly set an example of faith for us in the way they love and chase after God. Like our Kids Department, our students have also reached peak attendance with over 100 students every Wednesday. They inspire us with the way they humbly serve others in our church and around the world through their different missions projects. Check out what they're up to on Instagram @maplecitystudents.
We know the 7th to 12th-grade years can be challenging, and we want to be a place where students feel completely welcomed, cared for, and valued. A place where they love to come and are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
We are ecstatic about our groups and have many options. One of our favorite things from 2023 was our Summer Groups! We loved seeing our church taking the opportunity to connect with each other informally in interest-based groups. We also saw individuals and couples invest in classes like Financial Peace, Parenting, Blended Families, and more. Our community rallied around one another in the hurts of life through GriefShare, DivorceCare, and Journey with Us. Our Young Adults, Women's, Men's, and North of 60 groups gave individuals a place to connect with their peers. And, of course, our Life Groups continued to be a primary place where friendships are built, and we learn how to live life together with our faith communities.
God created us to live in relationship with others. It's how we grow, learn, are challenged, and encouraged. Since our beginning as a church, our adult ministry groups have been a vital part of our DNA to foster connection, spiritual growth, and belonging. Groups are where you meet the people you'll grow with in each season of your life. There is a group for you!
As we journey into 2024, our momentum continues to build, fueled by our expanding digital footprint. With 2,606 Instagram followers, our online community reflects the diversity and vibrancy of our church family. Our Instagram reach surged to 143,000 in 2023, marking an extraordinary 282% increase from the previous year. Among these standout achievements, Michelle Miller's baptism testimony emerged as a beacon of inspiration, captivating an audience of 128,595 people. Garnering 10,712 likes and sparking 240 heartfelt comments, this testimony exemplifies the transformative power of authentic storytelling and our collective journey of faith.
We desire to lead people into God’s presence during times of worship and celebration, with passion and excellence, enabling them to connect with Him in life-changing ways. God designed and created us. He breathed His image into us and we carry it in what we do. When we create, we are creating an expression of His image in us and minister to His heart as well as others.
Our church community continues to amaze us with their generosity. This year we continued to serve locally through the Mobile Food Bank, RETA, and many more. We also continue to serve and support many missionaries around the world including Peru, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and more.
Maple City Chapel supports multiple missionaries around the world. We love seeing the great work they're doing multiplying the Good News of Jesus everywhere. Your gift can make a giant difference.
